Michigan’s defense has been its strength all season long, but on Thursday evening, the Wolverines’ met their match. Facing off in the Sweet 16 against Texas Tech, the Maize and Blue struggled to score throughout, falling from the NCAA Tournament in a 63-44.

Wolverines hold off Florida, advance to Sweet 16

Facing off against Florida in the Round of 32 on Saturday, Michigan let a nine-point first half advantage slip away, but took command quickly after the break to claim a stranglehold on the game. The Wolverines scored the first 11 points of the second half, never leading by fewer than six points after that point, and cruising to a 64-49 victory.

Michigan cruises past Montana

 

Opening NCAA Tournament against Montana for the second straight year, the Wolverines once again came away with a victory, this time in even more impressive fashion. Unlike a year ago, where the Maize and Blue used a second half surge to pull away, Michigan took a commanding lead early on Thursday evening, walking away with a 74-55 victory.

Michigan falls at MSU

 

For the second time this season, Michigan went into a tightly contested second half with in-state rival Michigan State, and for the second time, the Wolverines were outplayed down the stretch. Holding a five-point edge with 12 minutes left in the game, the Maize and Blue went ice cold offensively, going 7:20 without a field goal and giving up a 20-2 run, ultimately falling 75-63.
