Evaluating recruiting needs and numbers

The best method for determining scholarship availability and needs for a recruiting class is to look a year ahead, when the recruits in that class will enter as true freshmen. We provide a complete evaluation of the current effort with that eye on the future.

Updated defensive recruiting hot list

While Michigan’s defensive recruiting has been overshadowed by great success pulling in offensive prospects, the Wolverines have managed to secure six commitments from highly regarded prospects on the defensive side of the ball as well. Fans can be certain that defense will be a priority for the remainder of the class, with linemen ranking as a high priority.

Green weighing his options

The running back position is sure to remain a top priority going forward for Michigan’s 2013 recruiting efforts and arguably the top prospect on the board right now is Richmond (Va.) Hermitage star Derrick Green. The 6-0, 215 pounder has been busy this spring, taking in as many unofficial visits as he can fit.

Updated offensive recruiting hot list

While 11 of Michigan's 17 verbal commitments for the class of 2013 are on the offensive side of the ball, there are still areas of need that will continue to be addressed before signing day. In particular, the Maize and Blue are still in search of elite level wide receiver and running back talent. See the complete offensive hot list, including committed players.
